Fotosintesi
“Small community, small world?”
“Small community, small world?” is the focus point of the reflection of the artist in residence project where Fotosintesi takes place. I questioned on the subject, analyzing the botanical garden: a "small world" hosting plant specimens from around the world that live in an organized and regulated system functional for conservation and development. I interpreted this reflection producing a photographic installation that consists of two sets of images. I divided the system of botanical gardens into two microcosms: the greenhouse and the park. I treated the diversity of the two series through different approaches. Selva reveals a lush, luxuriant and seemingly rebellious nature, portrayed with a participatory approach that is accomplished through shots at close range and the image covers the entire surface of the print, without interruption. In Giardino, a contemplative attitude shows a look at a more familiar nature and ordered into an architectural design. Selva e Giardino are related in a dialectical confrontation almost like thesis and antithesis, and create a play of contrasts. Fotosintesi is a a glimpse of a “small world”, but complex that contains a "community " filled with all the nuances of the larger world.
